WELCOME

I am Irene Celcer, a psychotherapist working in the United States and in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I see patients face to face and virtually. It is my philosophy that human beings are a unit: mind-body-society. We are social beings with a deep need to relate and interact. When the relationships to others fail us, we suffer. My goal and purpose as a therapist is to help you overcome the obstacles you encounter so you can relate to others and to yourself in a healthy manner. This is indispensable to be your authentic self and live the life you desire.
CONTACT ME

For better or worse, we are born with a certain body, a personal type and a look. Because of many factors we experience different feelings about our looks and even about our anatomy. In my office, you and I will work  on understanding how your experiences of who you are, is inseparable from the soci-cultural  forces that surround us all. We inhabit our gender and our bodies every day but it is always within a certain context. Often our unhappiness  is related not only to family or friendships gone south, but to the rigid structures that shape our lives: Boys, do not cry, girls need to be sweet and thin, dating should happen in this or that way, we need to diet. In most cases, your discontent may be due to a mix of  your environment, your relationships and the social soup in which we live daily. As a therapist my desire is that after our work, you will face yourself in the mirror and feel a sense of calm peacefulness and why not, even joy.

My purpose with Iréné Celcer Consultorio is to:

✓ Help you feel better instead of tortured, sometimes to tears, by your weight, or by the shape of your body.

✓Help you feel less concerned with the subject of food and eating, i.e What am I going to eat, what should I not eat, why did I eat? I ate too much!
✓ Help those who eat compulsively learn to eat normally, separating food from emotions.
✓ Help those who have a dissident body navigate the social structures that put obstacles in their way to living freely.
✓ Help those who have been assigned a sex they do not identify with, find their true self.

If you want to take this journey, either face-to-face, or virtually, and you live in the USA, in the states of Georgia or Florida, please contact me.

You can contact me at: celcer@comcast.net

My wish and the objectives for which we will work together are:
-that you can achieve peace,
-that you do not think and feel you are «less than other people»,
-that you can feel like a safe, legitimate and a lawful person, with the body that you have,
-that you can eat normally in front of people,
-that you are no longer constantly afraid of becoming fat,
-that you can carry out a life without apprehensions, and that you participate in the activities that you want to. Being more visible, being you, can change your mood and even the oppressive social norms that surround us all.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is like taking a trip with a tour guide. In your trip, you will be visiting many gardens. But these gardens are inside of you. They are your personal gardens. Surely some are nice and others, even exuberant with flowers and fruits. However, some may appear sad and abandoned. If you decide to travel and take this journey, and you want me to be your guide, we can take the trip virtually or face-to-face, if you are in the states of Georgia or Florida . The idea is that your gardens flourish and that you, and whoever you choose to be around you, can enjoy them.

Services

When stress is overwhelming, you may end up feeling anxious or depressed. During therapy, you will learn different ways to manage anxiety and even depression to increase your wellbeing.

This therapy will help you improve your relationship with your body and with food. We will work so you no longer feel your body is an enemy and food something to be afraid of.

I respect the experienced gender of the person I have in front of me.

In an open, non-judgmental and pleasant atmosphere, we will figure out your Your wishes and hopes for your desired sex and gender.

In couple’s therapy we work on conflict resolution, if the couple so desires. Both of you will have enough and equal time to express what you need. But fundamentally, my focus will be on each of you being able to «see» and «understand» what the other oneis saying and wants. Complaints usuallymask a desire. Not always the apparent wish. I would like to elucidate with you what each of you want.
